It’s ALL about The HOME

Listening to the radio a couple days ago, I heard christian leadership guru, John Maxwell, share a quick syllogism that included a subject that is never far from my mind.  That subject is “The HOME!”   Seldom does a day go by but that I’m strongly (sometimes radically) reminded that it’s ALL about The HOME!  (Of course, it’s REALLY all about PERSONAL SALVATION through CHRIST … but assuming that THAT foundation is what it ought to be, it is then ALL about The HOME).

Most all the problems of this world can be traced back to trends and truths of The HOME;  most all the blessings of this world can be traced back to trends and truths of The HOME.  I just cannot understand how/why so many people do not seem to “get it!”   And yet, I think I actually DO understand why so many don’t get it, and that is because the great enemy of The Home, is SELF, and SELF, it seems, is just soooo hard to deprive and deny.

At any rate … back to the syllogism – [and I’m not even sure if I’m quoting it exactly as John said it;  I caught it on the run, but did get the main drift]:

  • When there’s RIGHTEOUSNESS in the HEART, there will be BEAUTY in the CHARACTER.
  • When there’s BEAUTY in the CHARACTER, there will be HARMONY in the HOME.
  • When there’s HARMONY in the HOME, there will be ORDER in the NATION.               And,
  • When there’s ORDER in the NATION, there will be PEACE in the WORLD.

Folks, it’s just as simple as that!

John’s daddy, Melvin Maxwell – and my daddy, Millard Downing (who were good friends and ministry associates) knew something very special about the importance of The HOME.  I’m SO glad they did!
