To Be .. or Not To Be?

We’ve all heard the  little statement that’s often made about someone who thinks a bit too highly of himself.  “If you could buy him for what he’s worth, and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth, you could make a nice profit!”  🙂

That statement makes the point and also has a nice touch of biting humor.  However,  I prefer to shift the concept over to a more positive and personal emphasis.  I believe it was Socrates, the great Athenian philosopher, who did that very well with the following statement.  “Be as you wish to seem!”

Let that one soak for a few moments.  All of us who have good and noble goals want to “seem” and “appear” to others to be truly good people!  We want others to like us, to respect us, to look up to us.  The only way that can ever happen deservedly is to BE the VERY person that we wish and hope to SEEM.

So be it!
