Around the Bend and Over the Hill
The school year was to begin in just a few days and the summer seemed to be flying by. We needed to open an additional classroom and the project appeared to be moving slowly. I was in a dither – moving from task to task in a blur.
I didn’t see it coming. It was just out of sight. I couldn’t sleep that night and had severe indigestion. After seeing the doctor the next morning and taking some tests, I got the news – a heart attack. I hadn’t seen it coming. It was around the bend. After bypass surgery and thirteen stents over three years I saw those hidden things much more clearly.
When we travel down life’s pathway many times we can’t see over the crest of the hill or around the bend. There are surprises along the way. Some of them are not as pleasant as others. I’m glad we have a traveling companion. He says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). I want to make sure He is traveling with me. I hope He is traveling with you.
