Have you ever seen a picture of a turtle on top of a fence post? This is a very interesting picture and one fairly easy conclusion is that the turtle did not get there by himself! He had to have help. My life is like that turtle. As the new Associate Pastor of Heath Church, there is no way I would be in the position that I am so blessed to be in today, without the assistance of some wonderful people. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances” (NIV). This new “circumstance” I am in is a happy one and I am thankful. So, let me give thanks to whom it is due. Thank you to my wife, Regina, and family for your support and love. Thank you to Pastor Dan, the HeathDirectors, and the church members for the votes of confidence to be one of your leaders. Thank you to each one who has prayed for us, unloaded a box, fixed a meal, or shared a kind word during our first weeks here in North Carolina.
I know there will be “circumstances” in the future that will not be happy and it will certainly be more difficult to be thankful than my current circumstance. However, God’s grace and faithfulness will help me to be thankful regardless of how tough the situation. What “circumstance” are you going through right now? Are you thankful? You can be with God’s help remembering that it is “God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thess. 5:18 NIV).
